Credit Union of the Rockies now offers Mobile Wallets – a digital system in which you connect your Credit Union of the Rockies Visa® credit and/or debit card and pay securely using your smartphone.

This contactless payment system is the most secure way to pay at stores, hotels, or even for online purchases. Mobile Wallet encrypts every transaction, so your credit card, debit card, and account information all remain inaccessible to others. What is a Mobile Wallet?

A mobile wallet is a form of wireless payment technology provided by your mobile device’s provider. It allows you to store your Credit Union of the Rockies Visa debit and/or credit card information in a digital, secure, and convenient manner right on your mobile device. Instead of using your physical debit card to make payments, you can pay using your smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch. 

Are Mobile Wallets secure?

Yes. When you add your card to a mobile wallet, the mobile wallet provider does not store your actual card number. Instead, a unique digital account number or token is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in your mobile wallet compatible device. This number is never stored on the mobile wallet provider’s servers. When you make a purchase, the digital account number, along with a transaction-specific dynamic security code, is used to process your payment. Your actual card number is never shared by the Mobile Wallet provider with merchants or transmitted with payment.

What Mobile Wallets does Credit Union of the Rockies support?

Credit Union of the Rockies currently supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

How do I add a Mobile Wallet on my device?

Most devices have a mobile wallet app preloaded, depending on the device you utilize.  For iPhones, the app is called “Wallet” while on Samsung and Android devices the app is called Google Pay or Samsung Pay, respectively.  If your device does not have the app, it can be downloaded from the appropriate app store for your device.

What devices work with Mobile Wallet?

Please visit your mobile wallet provider’s website for the most current list of compatible devices.

Do I need to be connected to the Internet to use my Mobile Wallet?

You will only need to be connected to the Internet for online purchases. For in-store purchases, you do not need to be connected to the Internet.

How do I complete a transaction using my Mobile Wallet?

To make a purchase in-store at a terminal that accepts your mobile wallet for payment, hold your device near the terminal. You will be required to authenticate yourself with your fingerprint, facial recognition, a passcode, or PIN, depending on your device. Once authenticated, the transaction will take just a second to process and will notify you when it has been completed (notification may be through a noise, a graphic on the screen, device vibration, etc). 

When making a purchase in an app that offers digital wallets as a payment option, locate the digital wallet icon at checkout.  After clicking the icon, you will have the option to select a different card, shipping address and contact information. If all the information looks correct and you want to finalize the transaction, complete the transaction by authenticating yourself with your fingerprint, facial recognition, password, or PIN, depending on how authentication is set up on your device. 

How do I return an item I bought using my Mobile Wallet in a store?

To return an item you bought in store using your mobile wallet you will need your store receipt and the mobile device with your mobile wallet app. If asked to swipe your card, simply unlock your device, and hold the back to the contactless payment terminal. In some cases, it may be asked to provide the last 4 digits of your virtual card number. This number can be found within details screen in your mobile wallet app. 

Will I earn cash back rewards on Mobile Wallet transactions when I use my Credit Union of the Rockies card?

Yes, you will earn the same level of rewards regardless of whether you use your mobile wallet for transactions or have the physical card present for the transaction.

How will my Mobile Wallet transactions show on my credit card statement?

Your transactions using mobile wallet software will appear the same way as a physical card.

Is there a fee for using Mobile Wallet services?

Credit Union of the Rockies does not charge a fee for using mobile wallet services.

Can I use my Mobile Wallet while traveling abroad?

Mobile wallet availability outside of the United States will depend on the merchant, mobile wallet provider, and Visa guidelines.

Can more than one card be stored in my Mobile Wallet?

Yes, multiple cards can be store in your mobile wallet.

Can I put the same card in a Mobile Wallet on multiple devices?

Yes, you can add any card in mobile wallet on multiple devices.

Am I able to remove my card from my Mobile Wallet?

You can remove your card from a mobile wallet at any time. Simply follow the directions provided by the mobile wallet provider to remove your card.

If I remove my card from my phone, does that cancel my physical card or can I continue to use them?

Erasing the information on your phone will have no effect on your physical card(s). You can continue to use your physical card(s) as you normally would.

What will happen to my card in Mobile Wallet if I replace or update my device?

If you replace or update your device, your card will not be transferred automatically. You will need to set up the mobile wallet software again and add your card to the new device.

What if my device is lost or stolen after I added my card to a Mobile Wallet?

Please contact 1-888-330-1019 immediately and report your card as lost or stolen. You should also remove the lost or stolen card from the mobile wallet, which can be done through the mobile wallet provider website using a personal computer.

What happens if fraud occurs on my card, and it is attached to my Mobile Wallet?

If you suspect fraud on your card, you should delete the card from your Mobile Wallet immediately and contact Visa directly at 1-888-330-1019 to report a dispute or fraud.

What should I do when I receive a replacement card?

You will need to delete your old card from your device and add the replacement card, which will create a new device account number.
