Early Withdrawal Penalty: We may impose a penalty if you withdraw any of the principal before the maturity date. For all Share Certificates, the amount of an early withdrawal penalty is based on the term of your Share Certificate. The penalty schedule is as follows:

  • 3 months-6 months = 90 days interest
  • 12 months-60 months = 180 days of interest

How the Penalty Works: The penalty is calculated as a forfeiture of part or all of the interest that has been earned on the Share Certificate. If, in a situation, the penalty is more than the interest earned the principal will not be affected.

Exceptions to Early Withdrawal Penalties: At our option, we may pay the account before maturity without imposing an early withdrawal penalty under the following circumstances:

  • When an account holder dies or
  • Is determined legally incompetent by a court or other body of competent jurisdiction or
  • When the Share Certificate is maintained in an IRA Plan and the member reaches 59 ½ or is disabled or
  • When the Share Certificate is maintained in an IRA Plan and the withdrawal is part of the required minimum distribution.

Your account is nontransferable and nonnegotiable. The funds in your account may not be pledged to secure any obligation of an owner, except obligations with the Credit Union.

Who is eligible to receive a First Tracks CD?

Those eligible to receive a First Tracks CD include new members or existing members who have not previously opened a certificate of deposit with Credit Union of the Rockies.
