Credit Union of the Rockies is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution that provides financial services to people who have a common bond through occupation, association or community. CUR was established in 1937 to service the Farm Security Administration in Denver. Over the years, membership in Golden grew and through that growth the Credit Union was able to broaden their charter to include all residents of Golden and their families as well as all those working in Golden.
After building membership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s office in Silverthorne, the need to open a branch in Summit County was apparent. Our Frisco office not only enhanced services to those members already belonging to the credit union; it also enabled us to provide an alternative to other residents to meet their financial needs. In 2006, CUR was made aware of the need for a financial institution in Gilpin County. Again, in an effort to broaden our membership base, serve those living in mountain communities, and with the help and support of the City of Black Hawk the Black Hawk branch was opened in June, 2006. 2008 brought Credit Union of the Rockies in to Grand County with the merger of High Country Credit Union. This merger gave the credit union a valuable foothold to a large membership base in Grand County which has helped CUR continue to grow. The credit union continues to grow with an ever expanding membership base and our partnership with Consumers United which allows Colorado residents the ability to join us.
Many things have changed since 1937 but our commitment to our members has not. At CUR you only deal with real people, people who answer the phones, evaluate your financial goals and recommend solutions to meet and exceed them. With over 8,000 members and a growing emphasis on small businesses in our community Credit union of the Rockies is here to help you achieve financial success.
